Part of a vast initiative to preserve open space, Project 300 began in 1986 by Middletown Township to coordinate land acquisition that will help comprise one of the largest open space systems in the Greater Philadelphia area. Wawa Preserve consists of 98 acres that is owned by Natural Lands Trust and operated in partnership with Middletown Township. Access to Wawa Preserve’s 4 mile network of trails is ideal from Rocky Run Trail, accessible just past Wawa Dairy for which parts of the property were once used to graze their cattle. Today this 2 ½ mile trail parallels Rocky Run Creek through cool woodlands spotted with fern and boulders. It runs along steep slopes eventually connecting to other trails. The vast Wawa Preserve network of trails offer visitors landscapes of cool woodlands to sunny meadows that are home to a variety of birds, wildlife in their sanctuary of hardwoods and wild grasses.

Begin your exploration of the trails of the Wawa Preserve, with Rocky Run Trail from Valley Road off Baltimore Pike. A parking lot is adjacent to the Valley Road Bridge just past Wawa Dairy. Rocky Run is wildly refreshing.
